Many people told me this phrase before I started high school, but I didn’t believe them. I thought, “This is four years we’re talking about, there’s no way that it could pass by quickly!” Oh, how wrong I was. Now that I’m at the end of my senior year, three weeks away from graduation, I long to go back and tell myself to take advantage of every moment I had in high school. I reminisce on the days when I had no responsibilities, when I had only easy classes to worry about, and when adulthood was years away and hidden on the horizon. Now there are college decisions, job applications, AP tests, and the carefree days of my childhood slip farther into the past. Of course, there are so many new opportunities and amazing experiences to look forward to with this new chapter in my life approaching, but this is more of a disclaimer for those who do still have time left. Enjoy it while you can, because everyone who tells you that it goes by fast, is telling the truth. Spend all the time you can with your friends and family while you’re all home. Work hard at school, but don’t let it consume your whole life. Make the best of the time you have, because your future self will thank you for it.
